Masticating or Single Gear Juicers
What you might lose in speed, you gain in nutrition. It's a fact that the centrifugal juicer can be much faster than a masticating juicer, but the single gear juicer works well at much lower rpms, generating less frictional heat, and it is generally agreed that less frictional heat translates into more valuable nutrients being saved.

The Masticating Juicer
Masticating is chewing, and that is exactly the process by which a masticating juicer works. Using a single gear or auger, the masticating juicer "chews" the fruit or vegetable to a pulp before squeezing the juice from it. Though slower than a centrifugal juicer, a masticating juicer does less harm to the vitamin and nutrient content of the product being processed, and is generally more efficient in the quantities of juice that can be extracted.
