Water distillation produces the cleanest of clean water. If done properly, it leaves you with a product that is both safe to drink and safe to use for food preparation. Unlike boiling, the addition of chemicals or looking to some sort of filtering process to treat contaminants, distilled water is water that is contaminant free. There are no germs, viruses, chemical residues, or toxic substances of any sort. The reason: Other processes attempt to remove contaminants from the water. Water distillation removes the water from the contaminants.
It is the process that Nature uses to purify our water supplies. Liquid water, whether from oceans, lakes, rivers, streams or simple ground water evaporates. Left behind are all of the salts, silts, chemicals and lifeforms that were once dissolved or otherwise present in it. This water vapor eventually recondenses and falls back to the earth in the form of much cleaner, much purer rain or snow. It is a cycle that is repeated over and over again.
This process can be reproduced at home. Boil the water, create steam, and then allow the steam to return to the liquid form. That is water distillation.
But what kind of complex equipment do you need? It need not be complex at all. Believe it or not, your steam juicer can do the job. There are commercial water distillers available, but that steam juicer can function as a water distiller as well. In this case, you would not be using it to produce juices, you would be using it to change dirty and polluted water into clean water.

How Does It Work?
Water is placed in the water pan at the bottom and set to a gentle boil. As a juicer the water vapor rises, is air cooled, reforms droplets of water, and drips down through the furit that is normally placed in the colander on top. This causes the fruit cells to break down releasing concentrated juices that mix with the water and then drip down, in the form of hot fruit juices, into the juice kettle in the middle. The juice is extracted using the attached hose. As a water distiller the same process is followed. Without the fruit, of course, the end result is simply pure, distilled water.
Water. We tend to take it for granted, yet how sure can we be that there are no harmful ingredients in this vital commodity that we are putting into our bodies? How likely are we to encounter a boil water advisory or encounter some other problem with our normal supplies of drinking water at some point in our lives? Even bottled water, to which more and more people are turning in the mistaken assumption that is guaranteed to have gone through some sort of special water purification process. may be an alternative to the water in their taps, but far too often it is simply tap water that has been bottled -- despite the beautiful pictures of snow capped mountains and glacial streams that adorn their labels.
